Pay your HMRC bill with Curve Fronted

Ah, January, a time for reflection, renewal, and…doing your taxes. But like everything else in the world of money, at Curve, we’re always looking for ways to make things a lil’ bit simpler.

Like paying your UK taxes with a credit card! Because Curve Fronted lets you do just that, and if you’re a Curve Metal customer, you can also get the first £10,000 spent with Curve Fronted fee-free each month. Nice.

Pay your HMRC bill with Curve Fronted

Let’s do a quick rewind. In January 2018, HMRC stopped letting people pay their taxes with a personal credit card. This is bad because we like financial freedom at Curve, and the ability to spread the cost of the bill is important.

But because Curve is a debit card, you can pay your taxes with a credit card when it’s your underlying payment card by using Curve Fronted. And if you upgrade to Curve Metal (a good choice, btw), you can do it with a fee-free allowance of £10,000 per month, saving you up to £150. Curve Blue and Black customers will be charged a small 1.5% fee per transaction.

Here’s how it works

You can turn Fronted on and off when you need it. To pay your taxes just turn it on then head to the HMRC website and pay your tax bill with a credit card – just double check you’ve selected the right payment card in the app before doing so.

App instructions:

  1. Tap on Account

  2. Tap on Settings

  3. Turn on Curve Fronted

  4. Pay off your tax bill!

More freedom with Fronted

As well as HMRC, UK customers can use Fronted to pay for DVLA Vehicle Tax and Student Loan Payments. Nice. But remember, Curve Fronted should be used responsibly, so you can spread the cost and maximise rewards and/or when you know you can comfortably manage future repayments.
