We’re big on security (And now we have the certificate to prove it)

We built Curve to empower everyone to make smarter financial decisions with every single tap. And to successfully do that, Curve can’t just be the simpler way to pay. Or the more rewarding. It has to be safer too. It’s why we put such a huge emphasis on security and why we’re thrilled to achieve security compliance with the Systems and Organization Controls.

The SOC 2 Type II certificate is a big win for us. It demonstrates our commitment to excellence in handling user data and sends a message to our customers that we genuinely care about their privacy and security. If you don’t know, the SOC 2 information security standard is an audit report on the examination of controls relevant to the trust services criteria categories covering security, availability, processing integrity, confidentiality and privacy. In InfoSec circles, it’s kind of a big deal. And it’s not easy to acquire.

“We’re extremely pleased to have successfully completed the SOC 2 examination. As the fintech space evolves and becomes more complex, the need for tight regulation and security compliance has become increasingly apparent. Achieving SOC 2 compliance highlights our commitment to maintaining the highest standards of security for our users.”

  • Shachar Bialick, CEO and founder at Curve

A SOC 2 Type II report describes a service organisation’s systems and whether the design of specified controls meet the relevant trust services categories, and assesses the effectiveness of those controls over a specified period of time. Curve’s SOC 2 Type II report did not have any noted exceptions and therefore was issued with a “clean” audit opinion from Sensiba San Filippo.

Becoming the most secure way to pay

Having this certificate brings us closer to becoming the most secure way to pay. After all, Curve is uniquely positioned to take that crown. A customers’ card details are always kept hidden behind their Curve card so their actual bank or credit card details are never exposed. Plus, customers get live notifications after every purchase across all their cards so they can spot fraud instantly and lock their account right away if they notice any suspicious activity. On top of that, Curve Customer Protection gives similar protection to Section 75 – the gold star standard - but applies it to every card in your wallet, even your debit cards.

Security might not always be the most exciting topic in the world of tech, but it’s arguably the most important. For building trust and ultimately – for doing right by our customers. The SOC 2 certificate is a testament to the security standards we set on day 1, and will continue to practise as we scale.
